Tom was born on September 7, 1956 in Peoria to Jerry and Patricia Hranka.  He married Susan Chambers on September 25, 1981 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church.  She survives.

Tom is also survived by his children, Jennifer (Frank) Belen of Baltimore, MD; Adam (Amy) Hranka of Colorado Springs, CO; and Brooke Hranka of Chicago; two precious grandsons, Angelo and Mateo Belen; three brothers, Joe (Shelly) Hranka of Groveland; John (Karen) Hranka of Rockford; Patrick (Pam) Hranka of Oswego; five sisters, Therese Peck of Peoria; Margaret Nelson of Bloomington; Anna (Kirk) McKinzie of Bloomington; Cecilia (Ray) White of Pontiac; and Kathleen (Joe) Heskett of Dunlap; brother-in-law, Larry Haynes of Peoria.  He is also survived by many nephews and nieces. 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Haynes.

Tom and Susan were blessed with a long, happy marriage and especially enjoyed the time they spent traveling together as well as being with their family. Always a loving, hands-on dad, Tom encouraged his children’s interests whether by coaching their sports teams or volunteering his time to their school and church activities. He was thrilled when he became the grandfather (“Gugu”) of twin boys, and nothing was more precious to him than their visits!  Tom was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time on the links with his brothers and close friends. He was also a passionate Packers & Cubs fan!

Tom was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, and he participated in Peoria Cursillo #170.  Tom was a member of the Washington Rotary Club.

Tom was a 1974 graduate of PCHS and attended ICC.  Tom excelled in many successful business endeavors throughout his life and collected many accolades and friends along the way. He was most recently the Southwest Regional Sales Representative for Bang Printing. Through his business travel, Tom collected many stories and authored “Conversations From 30,000 Feet”, published in 2017.
