Michael “Mike” E. Higgins, 52, of Washington, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the OSF Hospice Home.
He was born May 4, 1973 in Peoria, IL to Earl and Margaret Higgins. He married Tiffany Tomlinson in Peoria on May 22, 1999. He is survived by his family, wife Tiffany and his three children, Allisyn, Drew and Connor Higgins. He was preceded in death by his beloved father.
Mike graduated from Limestone High School. He played baseball at ICC and Eastern Illinois University where he graduated with his Bachelors degree. He continued his education at Bradley University, earning an Executive Masters of Business Administration. He enjoyed working at Springfield Clinic as Associate Vice President of Regional Strategy and Planning in Peoria. Previously, he held various positions at OSF Healthcare, twice enjoying the title of the Interim President of the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Mike’s most valued role was as a husband and father. He raised his children in Washington and enjoyed serving as volunteer coach for many boys and girls sports teams. He had a passion for serving others and connecting people, holding various positions on community boards and charitable foundations. For 20 years, he attended Northwoods Community Church of Peoria and recently has been attending Connect Church in Washington.
In his free time, Mike was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed traveling and attending concerts with his wife. Mike was a constant presence at his children’s activities, always cheering them on. He also loved hunting and fishing with friends.
