On December 26, 2022 Landon Robert McAlpine, 17 of Ottawa Illinois, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Landon’s journey in life won’t be defined by the battle he fought but by the strong, funny, amazing soul he was. His smile was infectious, his laugh was the reason people smiled, despite the circumstance. No matter how tough things got, Landon was the glue that held everyone together.

He was selfless and giving which is a rare gift in someone so young. He loved to be the reason you smiled almost as much as he loved bowling. Landon enjoyed being on his high school bowling team and was really good at it, he also loved telling you about it. Landon always gave his all to everything life gave him without looking back. Landon looked forward to graduating, getting his high school diploma and despite his medical setbacks, earned his diploma and graduated early.

He was strong, driven and much wiser than his years. Words on paper can never truly convey what an amazing young man Landon was or how blessed the world was to have him in it. The friends he made, the family he loved, the strangers that followed his story, those are the story tellers of Landon’s journey. He may have only been ours for a short time but his journey, his story will beat in every heart he touched.
Landon is survived by his parents Ryan and Raven, his two brothers Brennen and Braxten and his fur brother Loki Kringle all of Ottawa; his Paternal grandparents Bob and Kim McAlpine of Ottawa and Jim and Patti Myers of Ottawa; Maternal grandparents Cliff and Tammie Lessman of Mt. View AR; and bonus grandmother Betty Cave of Ottawa. Also surviving are his Aunts and Uncles, Shawn and Beth Thompson, Dusty Light, Jason and Krystal Leal, Steven and Stephanie McAlpine, Justin and Catibeth Keylard, Cody Keylard, Susann Price, Delaney Blaida, Nick Johnson, Josh Cave and a large village of cousins and friends.
Landon will be met by the loving arms of his great grandparents Roy and Ann McAlpine,
Joseph and Cora Leal, Jim and Nancy Crisman who proceeded him on this journey.
